Babs

Female Labrador

Adoption Pending

Babs is a fun 3-4-year-old Labrador.  She looks to be either a Chesapeake Bay Retriever or a Chocolate Lab. Prior to coming to the rescue, it is likely that Babs was living in the woods for a period of time.  She had pretty bad skin with a very sparse coat of hair and tested positive for heartworms. Since being in her foster home for a couple of months, her condition has improved greatly.  The itching and scratching has been taken care of and her skin and coat are healing nicely.  She’s finished her heartworm treatments and hopes to be free and clear when she is rechecked in a few weeks. Babs is a very sweet dog who will likely follow her human from room to room.  She listens very well when inside the house and in a fenced-in yard.  While Babs could undoubtedly climb over a 5-foot chain link fence…she has not made a serious attempt to at her foster home. Though she would very much like to “play” with the rabbits that always manage to escape the yard.  Babs is not much for barking, even when other dogs are barking at her.  Bab’s new parent(s) should be strict with her feeding.  She has a huge appetite and would likely eat herself to an unhealthy weight, given the chance.  Additionally, she is not above helping herself if the dog food is not secured very well.  She does need quite a bit of work walking on a leash…she still gets very excited to go new places.    As soon as her heart worm treatment is complete her foster parent will be working with her on that.  She rides well in the car and is house trained.
