Male Golden
Simba is a loving, sweet boy looking for his forever family. He was surrendered due to “no time”. He loves belly and back rubs, giving kisses, chasing balls, rolling in the grass, watching tv, and most of all snuggling with his foster family.
At a year and a half, DOB 01/24/2024, he is still a puppy, but a good walk, game of fetch, or nap in his kennel calm his occasional puppy energy. He loves to play with his foster family, but can also entertain himself. Occasionally he will pick up a paper towel, shoe or sock, but will give it back when told. Giving him a toy as a replacement item solves the problem and he has not chewed anything he shouldn’t. He does well sitting to be petted when meeting new people of all ages and on adventures to Starbucks, Petsmart and parks. He goes into his kennel willingly (especially with a treat) and relaxes easily. He is doing well learning to walk on a leash and enjoys taking walks with neighbor dogs. He likes to sit and observe new sights and sounds especially when outside. He is learning the basic commands and will sit and wait for the “free” command to eat and to enter/exit the house. In the last month he has worked with a trainer and is continuing the work with his foster family. He will benefit from continued training to become proficient with commands.
Because he still has a puppy personality, Simba will probably be best in a family with older children. On Halloween, Simba dressed as a Mizzou fan and enjoyed sitting outside and being loved on by all the trick-or-treaters. Simba, the red golden retriever, is going to give his future family a lot of love!
