Roger

ADOPTION PENDING
Male Golden

Tired of the everyday grind? Ever dream of a life of romantic adventure? Want to get away from it all? We offer you... Roger!  (You’ll get the reference if you’re old enough to remember the old-time radio drama, Escape.)

Roger is a 2 ½ year old owner surrender, who has recently been neutered.  Roger has started training at Kennelwood and will resume training after his follow up visit with the vet.  Roger is basically a 65 pound 4-month-old.  He doesn’t know much about good manners, no jumping, leash walking, etc.  He loves attention, enjoys snuggling and getting pet, but he also wants to stand on top of his foster person (see good manners comment above).  He is pretty playful, much to the chagrin of the other dogs in his foster home.  He was an only dog in his prior life and would be fine as an only dog in his forever home.

Roger has a pretty dominant personality, and he needs a strong pack leader in his life.  He is not the right dog for a first-time dog owner – he will run the household (and not in a good way).  Roger’s new owner(s) should be prepared to continue his training.  The training will require lots of practice and reinforcement at home.  He would also enjoy long walks or hikes, endless games of fetch, chasing squirrels in your back yard, and some Netflix and chill on the weekends.  It’s possible that Roger might enjoy additional enrichment to keep his mind and body busy (scent work/barn hunt, obedience competition).

So, if you’re looking for adventure, Roger is your guy.  He has the potential to be a really good boy, but it’s going to take some work.  The reward will be a great bond with this handsome boy, and a really nice companion.

As always, we require a physical fence.  Since Roger is so big and playful, we will require kids in his new home to be 15 or older.
